Under normal circumstances - when there is some catastrophe or a war anywhere - donating to @WFP is enough to actually help the people there. The cover acquisition and logistics and countries routinely waive any import taxes for humanitarian aid.

Merchants in Gaza have to pay Israeli border authorities to receive a truck full of aid and of course, they then have to charge the people in Gaza to recover that money for the next truck. It isn't Hamas who profiteers from selling the food.

@WFP But for Gaza, if you only donate to @UNRWA, they have to leave the aid with Israeli authorities (@cogatonline) at the border crossing. Then someone has to pay the "coordination fee" or the food is being held at the border until it spoils and has to be discarded.

Israel has successfully managed to turn the crimes of genocide and forced starvation into a profitable business.
